What should be included in a coaching contract?
A coaching contract should include the coaching services and their boundaries, session logistics, fees and payment schedule, a cancellation and rescheduling policy, confidentiality terms, a results disclaimer, and how either party ends the engagement.
Two clauses do the heaviest lifting. The 24-hour cancellation policy protects your calendar, sessions cancelled late are charged, and the disclaimer separates coaching from therapy and from guaranteed outcomes: coaching supports goals; it does not promise revenue or treat mental health conditions.
Add three more: package terms (do unused sessions expire?), payment for no-shows, and whether sessions may be recorded. Coaches sell a relationship, which is exactly why the paperwork matters; the contract keeps boundaries intact when the relationship gets comfortable enough to test them.
This coaching contract template includes every one of those clauses ready to fill.
